My Diet Journey in 2020
The second reason was I want to dress like I used to do, or even I want to dress a lil more girly and chic at some points. When I was soooo fat, around 67 kilograms, I always thought I looked like a pig. I had no curves, and every look just looked so boring and weird. I was so frustrated that I bought so many clothes but when I tried them on, it didn't look as I expected.
The third reason, or the last reason, which was supposed to be the main/first reason, was that I want to be healthier and have a good body shape. I didn't have (and hopefully never) serious diseases but I wanted to maintain health, also I just hated myself so much for having that such body shape so I wanted to fix it. And it was, after doing a diet, my body felt healthier and of course lighter. So that's that.
Move to the time reference of my diet?
I was doing my diet (a bit strict) from April 26th, 2020 till the end of July 2020. After that, I loosen my diet and just was not eating excessively. Luckily, when I started my diet a few days before the Holy Ramadhan month where I was fasting for almost a month (kind of worship for my religion, me as a moslem).
How did I do my diet?
Before starting my diet in 2020, I did small research by reading some articles and watching some videos regarding diet cause I didn't want to repeat the same mistake that I did when I was on diet back in 2015. To be honest, at first, I considered the Kpop Diet (IU diet) that only eating apples and drink a protein shake but I didn't think I'd be able to do that cuz my work was so hectic and crazy so I skipped that one. Then I read about OCD (it's more like intermittent fasting) which meant eating only for 4 or 6 or 8 hours only, then other than that only drinking plain water. Also, I did a binge-watching of Yulia Baltschun's videos on Youtube regarding diet. After doing some research, I decided to do intermittent fasting with the window of eating 4 hours (20 hours fasting) which I thought I'd be comfortable doing that.
In my case, besides only doing intermittent fasting, I also always calculated my calorie intake. Based on the articles I had read, the key of diet was calorie deficit, which meant calorie intake was less than calorie burn (for the exact explanation you guys can just google it lol). On my daily basis, I would only eat around 1200 kcal in a day, 1500 kcal max, that I ate everything I wanted even cake, ice, snacks, etc as long as it didn't pass the maximum calorie intake I've set (you can google it how much calorie do you need for a day, don't be lazy :)). However, I didn't eat rice (I did eat less than 10x in three months, but I ate noodles several times), instead, I ate lots of vegetables, fruits, and protein such as fish, eggs, or chicken. Ah ya, sometimes I ate muesli with lots of grains (almonds, raisin, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, etc etc). Yet still, I tried to calculate the calorie intake. How did I do that? I usually went for research on google "calorie of 1 fried egg" etc. Actually, there were so many apps that can calculate the calorie, but I didn't download one hahahaha my phone's memory ain't sufficient lol. So yeah, asking google was a loooot easier.
As I've mentioned above that I started the diet on Holy Ramadhan when I needed to be fasting one month long, I lost the most weight that month. It was around 5 kilograms during that period of time. How could I? So, for sahoor (meal before the dawn), I didn't eat anything but drank plain water, and I'd be having breakfast around 6pm, and having dinner and snack till 8pm. Since I was fasting all day, I easily became full so yeah, huge weight loss HEHEHE. To summarize, my initial weight was around 66-67 kilograms before the diet, then in the first month I lost around 5 kilograms, the second month I lost around 2.5-3 kilograms and in the third month, I lost around 2-2.5 kilograms. So yeah, by August 2020, my weight was 57-58 kilograms (it remains the same up till I post this hehe).
And, one thing to remember for sure, when it came to diet, I also did small exercises every day. I opened my Youtube and following like "8 minutes exercise to flatten stomach", "5 minutes exercise at home", etc. I didn't choose an exercise that took me long to do cuz I wanted to do it for the long run. Also, since I loved bicycling, I also did that several times a week. Therefore, I could still enjoy tasty foods and still cut my weight easier. I mean, I didn't feel pressured that much, it was enjoyable.
Wkwk sorry for being so shameless guys hahaha.
Woops almost forgetttt, if you guys wanna do diet, pleas highlight these:
- Please, please do research before starting the diet, try to look for a method which most likely be suitable for you, don't just do as you wish (you can read articles or watch some videos on Youtube). I can't guarantee what worked for me will work for you too, everybody has a different type of body and suitable method of diet, so go find yours
- Do exercise, even if it's only 5 minutes, make sure you do it every day, ; consistencys a key
- Drink enough water, it's suggested to drink 2 liters of water, right? Do it, especially when you do intermittent fasting, you gotta do it since no other options
- Stick to your plan, always remember the good result that won't betray you, and keep telling yourself that nothing comes easy, it takes time. Something that takes long will stay longer, too. I promise you once you succeed, you couldn't be happier seeing your reflection in a mirror, also you won't be back to gain weight easily if you do a proper diet (I experienced it myself tho)
- Monitor your progress, measure your weight once in a while to see the progress, do that after waking up, and do your business at the toilet yet before eating anything (make sure don't do stupid thing like I did, I measured it every morning so when I gained weight instead of lost it, I was so stressed out. FYI, that's normal tho cuz sometimes the body weight's fluctuating by the time)
Yep yep, that's all I can share. I hope you guys can gain some value from my post. Sorry in advance that I couldn't write my experience sequentially lol (it's been ages I didn't make any posts on my blog huhu). Last but not least, GOOD LUCK GUIIIISEEEEEEEEEEE XOXO
Ps. If you guys have any questions, don't hesitate to lemme know through the comment section below :)
