My Very First e-Learning Course (Held by UNSIAP)
Ohayou!!
Weekend is coming, who's excited? What's your plan to spend your weekend? Going somewhere? Chilling? Wishing you have a well spent weekend, guys.
Today, I am going to tell you about e-Learning Course that I took last month. Are you curious enough? Hahahahaha, go read it through.
Soooooo, in the of April, I got a message from my college friend (Freshy, thanks a lot) who works in Statistics Indonesia, Jakarta. She sent me an official letter about the e-learning course, but at that time, there was no issues around about it. I asked so many people in office, even asked several staffs in province level about that, but the answer was "sorry, I haven't heard it yet, I'll tell you later". So okay, I remained silent while waiting for the official letter. I didn't know why I was sooooo excited about that, I thought that because I was too bored about the endless-busy-routine at office. To prepare the course (even I aint sure to get accepted yet), I started to find some institutes which provide TOEFL Preparation Test. A senior of mine (Mbak Wuri, thank you) suggest me to go to ELC Manado instead of UNSRAT, because people who take test in UNSRAT need to wait for a week to get the result. Noted.
A few days later, when I was in training for Ubinan Survey, a senior of mine told me that she just got a broadcast regarding to the e-learning course in her group, then she shared to our office group. Then the next day (Saturday, last day of training), I asked for permission to my head office to take an exam for TOELF Prediction to fulfill the requirements. It was not that easy as you think, because we still had a closing ceremony but I said I needed to go as soon as possible because the staff of ELC Manado, where I took the TOEFL Prediction (I have contacted her on the previous day) told me to go around 10am. Ya, my head office eventually gave permission to me after gave a-not-too-short-advice. Then I rushed to the ELC Manado while carrying my heavy bag consisted of some clothes and books and laptop.
Arriving there around 10.30 am, I asked the staff about TOEFL Prediction test whether I could take the exam at that time and get the result once after finishing the exam, also I asked her about the fee. The lady told me that I could take the exam directly and get the result after 2 hours, and it costed Rp350.000 (OMG I was kinda shocked hearing the nominal, because as I know, it only Rp250,000), but then the lady explained me that's because I took the exam on weekend, if weekdays it costed Rp250.000. I had any other choices so I agreed. Then I took the exam, but I guess that was not the real TOEFL Prediction test because it was too noisy outside the room while I had a listening section, and the questions book full of notes, I could see the some of the answers of multiple choices had been pointed. Well, whatever, I didn't take it seriously because it was only for TOEFL Prediction, not the real real TOEFL Test which costs a loooot. Okay, once I finished the exam around 12pm, I got the result around 1pm, then I went home.
Next day, I mean on Monday, I went to updating household for Ubinan survey (honestly I had another drama, y'all know I am drama queen, I even hugged tukang ojek hahahahhahahahaha). Then, when I was on my duty, my head office called me that I should send my requirements as soon as possible if I wanted to join the e-learning course, he said that he already typed my name on the higher group as the participant of course from my office). Whohooo soo delighted at that time. Then I went back to the office, and sent an email to the province staffs, but another drama came up. First, I forgot to attach the file. Second, I forgot to edit the format. So, I succeed on sending email after 3 times of trial. Whoaaah, what a relief.
On May 9, I got an email from UNSIAP that the first batch of the e-learning course (supposed to held May 9-June 8) has been deffered, that if I wanted to join the e-learning, I could register for the second batch.
On May 21, I got the following email from Statistics Indonesia to confirm that I join the second batch of e-Learning course held by UNSIAP. Then on June 18, I got the next email from UNSIAP that I could start to join the e-Learning on the next day since the next batch held June 19-July 18.
On June 19, I started to join the e-learning, that for the very first time in my life. I had no experience before. Basically, the course had 1 section of orientation and 6 section of chapters. For each chapter consisted of materials and assignment to be submitted. There would be a deadline for each assignment, I bet that was not a real deadline because it's allowed to submitted out of the deadline as long as before July 18, no punishments. The assignments consisted of multiple choices, true-or-false questions, and essay, meanwhile for the final exam, that's consisted of multiple choice only (some of the questions were from the assignments).
Sore here the details of the chapter/ section of the course
- Orientation (it was basically the guidance to access the e-learning, about accessing the materials since it's in two formats (interactive and downloadable format))
- The Foundations of Official Statistics (it was all about the history of official statistics in the world, not only Indonesia, but all over the country, yaaa it was so insightful, also the definition and criteria of official statistics based on UN)
- Overview of National Statistics System (it was all about national statistics system which related to the national statistics office, in Indonesia is Statistics Indonesia, regarding the law, the coordination between parties and so on)
- How Official Statistics Are Produced (it was all about how statistics are produced, yass as we know the data could be gained from administrative data, registration, survey, census etc, but here all was explained in details)
- The Global Statistical System (it was all about the global statistical system which was the reference of the countries, one of the example was ISIC)
- Communicating With Users (it's all about disseminate the data, the statistics, about user need assessment, about how we communicate with users, and so on)
- Quality Assurance For Official Statistics (it was talking about the quality assurance in some countries, case and the way the countries assure their data)
Ah ya, almost forgotten that for each assignment and final exam, we had 3 attempts to give a shot, and only the highest score/grade will be used. Also, there would be a review of assignment once we submitted. Once we completed the assignments, we took the final exam. But, the certificate didn't come up once you took three attempts of final exams, it finally appeared on the bar on July 25 (as I showed you on my Instagram story).
To be honest, this course did not meet my expectation hahahaha (may be mine was too high). But I am grateful that I could experience this and share it with you. So guys, if you want the materials, please lemme know through 13.7606@stis.ac.id and I'll send you ones. Thank you so much.
Last but not least, if you think that this post is useful, please share it to your friends, relatives and everyone.
Love,
fv.
Ps. Maaf, sebenernya aku mau cerita ini pake Bahasa Indonesia biar lebih hidup ceritanya, but on the other hand, aku takut tar aku makin males mikir buat nulis pake Bahasa Inggris (as you can see, my vocab is super limited here), jadi mohon dimaklumi. Silakan tanya secara langsung kalo memang ada pertanyaan, I'll welcome every constructive questions and comments.
