Why is the renewable energy so important?
Hello guys, it’s the
second day. Today I am gonna share about the reasons why the renewable and
conservative energy are absolutely needed instead of conventional energy.
We all knew that it’s
been centuries that people using various energy sources to support their life. Energy for electricity, for fuel in various industries, and so on. But do you know that most of the energies were the conventional energies which are not renewable. It's true that the conventional
energy itself brought good impacts for economic developments. It could be said
as one of effective driver for economic progress (Akella, et al, 2009). But,
the thing is, after long period of time, the disadvantages of using conventional
energy slowly but sure appear and become massive problems by the time.
To make it easier to
understand, let me give you the example of conventional energy so that we can
get along in this kind of discussion. The examples of conventional energy are
fossil fuel-based energy, oil from coal-based energy, nuclear-based energy and
so on. Meanwhile the example of renewable energies are energy based on nature
such as solar energy, wind energy, bio-energy, geothermal energy etc. One the
main difference between these two types of energy, which is easiest to
identify, is the adequacy of the source and the sustainable for the future
generation. The conventional energies are usually limited so that someday it’ll
run out.
Beside the limited source
of conventional energy, the bad impacts for environment which cause
global warming and climate change nowadays should be concerned. The climate
change happened due to the heavy use of fossil fuel with emissions of sulphur
dioxide, nitrogen oxide and carbon dioxide (Akella, et al, 2009). The pollution
aint only in the air, but the water and the land got the bad effects as well. Most of industrial factories in this entire world used conventional energy such as oil-based as fuel. But do you ever think what's the impact of that? The
life of some creatures becomes worrying since it may contain lots of chemical
stuffs which harmful that lead bad impacts for health. The water pollution for example, as the result of the bad management of waste (residual of goods processing) usually streamed to river or sea, it made the underwater creature such as many kind of fish irritated and ironically made them extinct. Another example is when the waste of industries (especially if the factory located in the middle of land and surrounded by settlement) absorbed by the land, it could contaminate the water source of people, and it could affect the health of people. How come? Since water is the main source to live, when the water contaminated by the harmful chemical substances, the end of story can be predicted to illness or mortality. That’s why, we absolutely need
the renewable energy to solve those problems, or at least, to minimise the risk
for future generations related to these issues.

like to post about the current condition of renewable energy in the world or

Halo teman-teman, ini adalah hari kedua #15hariceritaenergi. Hari ini aku mau ngebahas soal alasan kenapa energi terbarukan dan energi konservatif itu sangat diperlukan.
Kita semua tahu kalau sudah berabad-abad orang menggunakan berbagai jenis sumber energi, akan tetapi sebagian besar dari energi yang digunakan adalah energi konvensional yang tidak dapat diperbarui. Memang, energi konvensiona telah membawa banyak manfaat, terutama untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi. Dapat dikatakan, energi konvensional merupakan salah satu faktor pendorong yang memacu kemajuan ekonomi (Akella, dkk, 2009). Masalahnya, setelah digunakan dalam kurun waktu yang lama, tidak dapat dipungkiri bahwa kerugian menggunakan energi konvensional pun bermunculan.
Supaya lebih mudah dipahami, aku akan ngasih contoh energi konvensional dan energi terbarukan. Jadi nanti kalau aku ngebahas dua jenis energi tersebut, kita jadi lebih mudah untuk berdiskusi. Contoh dari energi konvensional adalah energi yang berasal dari bahan bakar fosil, batubara, nuklir, dan lain-lain. Sedangkan contoh dari energi terbarukan adalah energi yang bersumber dari alam seperti energi matahari, angin, panas bumi, dan sebagainya. Satu pembeda yang sangat mudah ditemukan di antara dua jenis energi di atas adalah ketersediaannya apakah terbatas atau tidak serta keberlangsungannya. Energi konvensional biasanya ketersediaannya terbatas sehingga suatu saat kemungkinan akan habis dan tidak dapat diperbarui.
Selain karena keterbatasan persediaan sumber energi, energi konvensional juga membawa dampak buruk bagi lingkungan seperti pemanasan global ataupun perubahan iklim yang saat ini harus mendapatkan perhatian. Perubahan iklim terjadi karena penggunaan bahan bakar fosil yang berlebihan sehingga menghasilkan emisi sulfur dioksida, nitrogen oksida dan karbon dioksida (Akella, dkk, 2009). Perlu diingat bahwa polusi yang terjadi bukan hanya di udara, tetapi juga terjadi di air dan tanah. Sebagian besar dari pabrik-pabrik industri di dunia menggunakan sumber energi berbasis minyak sebagai bahan bakar, dan tentu ini membawa pengaruh buruk bagi lingkungan. Misal saja, jika manajemen limbah buruk, limbah sering dialirkan ke sungai atau laut secara langsung. Akibatnya, banyak makhluk air menjadi terluka bahkan punah. Contoh lain misalnya saat perusahaan berada di tengah kota, maka limbah biasanya hanya akan ditampung dan besar kemungkinan akan terserap tanah. Dampaknya jika resapan tersebut mengontaminasi sumber air minum penduduk maka akan mempengaruhi kesehatan penduduk. Kenapa bisa begitu? Karena air merupakan sumber kehidupan. Jika air yang dikonsumsi terkontaminasi oleh bahan-bahan kimia berbahaya, sangat mungkin penduduk akan terserang penyakit, kemungkinan terparah dapat mengakibatkan kematian. Hal ini berarti kehidupan manusia yang terkontaminasi zat-zat kimia berbahaya hasil dari penggunaan energi konvensional menjadi sangat mengkhawatirkan. Oleh karena itu, energi terbarukan diharapkan dapat menjadi solusi untuk menyelesaikan masalah tersebut, atau setidaknya dapat mengurangi resiko kerugian untuk generasi yang akan datang.
