A simply complicated life of statistics and STIS
Hello guys, this is officially my first post which consist of information, I mean hopefully a useful information. I am gonna tell ya a brief description about statistics and Sekolah Tingga Ilmu Statistik. You readyyyyy?
What's statistics?
A simple question from common people, but it takes time to give explanation. Well, I just wanna make it as simple as possible to understand. Yass, as you know, statistics has strong correlation with those complicated stuffs; number, mathematics, and data. Statistics is all about collecting, processing, displaying and interpreting data that we gain from nature or everything to be a better form and more useful information. Technically, it's a bit complicated to describe, but I think it's enough for this kinda short explanation. I will just jump over Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik.
What's Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistik?
Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Statistic is one of governmental institute which is run under Badan Pusat Statistik (Statistic Indonesia). You know, it is similar to IPDN, STAN, STMKG, STPI and so on though it's not as famous as the others. Uh so sad. Sad. Sad. Okay, stop. STIS is located at Otto Iskandardinata 64c st, Jatinegara, East Jakarta. Built since 1958, now it is 58-year-old.
In this kinda campus, there are approximately 2000 students who study statistics, most of them study for 4 years to put SST behind their name, and the rest study for 3 years to put an Amd. This campus itself has 2 major departments, which are statistic that is divided into two, social-demographic and economics, and the other department is computational statistics. You can choose as you wish, as long as everything goes well.
What's the plus and minus of being a student of STIS?
Well, I am gonna merge the plus and minus since it can't be apart, hope you guys will easily understand.

- Since it's tuition free so that your parents will feel at ease, even you get monthly allowance, those who study here MUST FOLLOW THE RULES, ALL THE RULES. I mean like, everything needs to be paid, but somehow not using money. Firstly in the beginning, before you really have to go to Jakarta, as you make a decision to study here, you have to sign such a contract which consisted several rules to show our agreements. If you break it, then you've to payback, or it's so called "Tunjangan Ganti Rugi".
- You don't need to be as busy as your friends to look for a job, because you're guaranteed to work in BPS (Statistic Indonesia), even it's an obligation that you must work there for at least 8 years. Yes, till your age almost touch 30 (Please do think about getting married, post graduate program, and everything and set it all). And you can't argue with the placement of work unless you're on of the top ten, which means you're a adorably genius. However, you'll still a civil-servant (to-be, for now).
- You'll meet loooooots of extraordinary fellas come from all over Indonesia, even somehow from neighbour countries. You'll feel the competitive atmosphere, in a good way, of course. You'll find some species here, such as the diligent ones, the genius ones, the organization-activist, the artists, the nerd ones, even the cray cray ones. Ehehehe.
- I can say, STIS is a balance campus. You'll find an educative and religious ambience at once. But don't worry, you still can find jokes and jokers as well, I am indeed.
- You'll be experiencing what study and school all about, like literally. Just cry over some damn exams, never ending tasks, dating with hundreds number errrrrrday etc etc. ENJOY THE FATIGUE OF LEARNING, YOU'LL FIND THE JOY AFTER. (To be honest. I've cried few times, so it's just my way to motivate my own self xixixixixixi).
- You don't need to put a deep thought to decide what to wear tomorrow because you only allowed to go to campus as long as you wear uniform, which only consist of a color, so people won't notice even if you didn't washed it for weeks. Ewh.
- This is one of saddest fact that I hate the most, you'll rarely have a concert with a well-known artists in your campus even it's Dies Natalies. Sooo old fashioned kekekeke.
- Mmmm what else to write, what else, what else... ngggg, not really sure.
About the entrance tests, I'll post in another chance. Or just ask me directly :)))))))
Sooooo, if you guys have any questions, just don't hesitate, please leave a comment and insyaAllah I'll answer it. Xoxo.
